Bengal Science Centre – It is located 5 km north of the
city alongside the National Highway 31 in Matigara. Apart from parks and
scientific equipments and toys to pique the scientific mind, it houses
a small planetarium where you can experience the pleasure of gazing at
the galaxy in broad daylight. It also has a nature interpretation centre
showcasing the diverse bio-diversity of the North Bengal region. Visitors
can learn about the flora and fauna found in the region and also get a
glimpse of the dialect, customs and traditions and culture of the people
living in North Bengal.
Madhuban Park – Located within the Army Cantonment
area, which is 8 km from the city. It has parks, gardens and a café;
local people come with family, friends and dates to relax in weekends.

Surya Sen Park – It is located at Mahakalpally
in Siliguri, alongside the Mahananda River. A serenading place to relax
and play while enjoying the fresh air and relishing the view of the mountains
in the background.

Wildlife Sanctuary - The Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary or Reserve
is located 8 km from the city in the Sukna Forest Range. It is the only
wildlife sanctuary located in the outskirts of Siliguri. Itis a vast
stretch of wilderness with thick foliage stretched along the tributary
of the Mahananda River, called the Panchanoi River. It is home to the
elephant, leopard, musk deer and many varieties of flora.
Here you can go for an elephant safari or opt for a jeep safari. The elephant
safari continues along a 5 km stretch to Golaghat, which passes through
dense forest with great opportunity to witness nature and wildlife. Apart
from that, the safari takes you to Khoklong forest village and to the
nearby banks of the Panchanoi River.
For people interested in the natural history of the region there is the
Darjeeling Himalayan Museum and the Nature Interpretation Park at Sukna
to go for a visit.
There is facility for a short one-hour tour conducted in two elephants
named Meenakshi and Siladitya.
If you are the one who want to enjoy the pleasure of nature tucked inside
the safety of your jeep, you can choose a jeep safari. The jeep safari
will take you to a thrilling 30 km ride from Sukna to Laltong watch tower
– be prepared with your camera and binocular to store your memories.

Bengal University - The North Bengal University is located 9
km away from Siliguri with a sprawling campus stretched along an area
of 330 acres. It is the centre of learning and research for the entire
North Bengal region and the state of Sikkim.
It was established in 1962. It enrolls over 36,000 undergraduates and
1500 graduates at different courses under its affiliation every year.
It has many learning centres, departments, offices and quarters comprising
of 23 post graduate departments, 18 centres and 19 administrative departments.
Students from the districts of Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, North
Dinajpur, South Dinajpur, Malda and the states of Sikkim, Bihar and the
north eastern states of India actively pursue their education under its
auspices. Moreover, students from the neighboring countries of Bhutan,
Bangladesh and Nepal also choose North Bengal University for their educational
pursuits.

Sed-Gyued Monastery, Salugara - The Sed-Gyued Monastery,
located in Salugara, belonging to the Gelugpa sect of Buddhism, was inaugurated
by the Dalai Lama in November, 2001. The monastery also includes a research
centre on Buddhist studies. It is said that the original monastery was
destroyed by the Chinese when they invaded Tibet and the Dalai Lama had
wished the new one to be rebuilt in Salugara.
Also, in 1988, a huge Stupa measuring a hundred feet was constructed by
Kalu Rinpoche in the Monastery premises depicting five types of relics
from the Buddhist religion.
Kalchakra Monastery - The Kalchakra Monastery was also
inaugurated by the Dalai Lama when he visited Salugara, a suburb in Siliguri,
for the Kalchakra ceremonies in 1996.
