Uttar Banga Sambad - A two decade old vernacular newspaper. This is arguably the most popular newspaper for Siliguri. According to media reports about 75 per cent of the vernacular newspapers sold in Siliguri is Uttar Bangal Sambad. The newspaper started its journey in the 1980’s when Siliguri had no publication and newspapers used to be printed in Calcutta and reach Siliguri late in the evening or the next morning. Today almost all the Calcutta newspapers worth its name is also published from Siliguri. But Uttar Banga Sambad has successfully been able to hold on to its leadership position.

 

The Anandabazar Patrika - The largest selling vernacular newspaper of West Bengal is new published from Siliguri too. Its fighting a pitched battle for space with Uttar Banga Sambad.
