Handicrafts of this region have great demand among the tourist and the business is brisk in the tourist season. However, the state government and other private entrepreneurs need to promote and market these products and must look at opportunities for export. Frequent sale-cum-exhibitions and fairs should be conducted and the artisans provided with rewards and incentive to encourage them in their creative endeavor. The traditional cottage industry that manufactures woolen garments, cane and bamboo products should also be promoted through direct purchase, exhibitions, formations of associations and societies. Steps must be taken to empower them with knowledge on how to promote and effectively market their products, so that they can derive more profit by getting rid of middlemen and agents
